Pope's Walk is an ancient byway that goes from Combe Down into the centre of Bath, it was the original route in and out of the city from the south. Now, steeper than the neighbouring Ralph Allen Drive it is rich in lush greenery and ferns and you find yourself encapsulated under the boughs of deciduous trees. The path is lined with deep banks that tell the ancient stories of the route walked to the pre-Roman era.
