Assynt and Coigach
High up in north-west Scotland is this extraordinary area that is worth every hour in the car from Bath to visit, it is wild, remote and far from anywhere. Once you're there you find yourself in this extraordinary landscape, full of wildlife, incredible views, inspirational walks of all lengths, from a brief beach amble to a committed several day expedition. It has left a lasting impact on us as a family. We will return, in the meantime we enjoy the memories.
These two neighbouring areas in north-west Scotland offer drama and beauty in equal measure, being a truly sublime landscape. The remote factor of this place and its ever-rewarding beauty is a far cry for the hustle and bustle of daily life. It is a place where time stands still yet steeped in its identity is small industry in fishing, agriculture and tourism but never does it cramp the style of the explorer.
