6 Week Courses

Fashion Illustration - October 2026

The courses are suitable for all abilities and the small class size means that you will get individual tailored attention. We will look at themes that are inspired by nature and the natural environment. Classes are small and each course will run with a maximum of 5 people.​

This is a 6 week course Starting in October 2026
Monday evening - 6 week 2027 - 6pm - 8.30pm
6pm - 8.30pm, 12th Oct, 19th Oct, 2nd Nov, 9th Nov, 16th Nov, 23rd Nov

​Course Summary

This course will help you develop as a designer and take a creative and expressive approach to fashion illustration. We will be working with a variety of media such as pencil, ink, crayon, water soluble, wash, and collage​.

 

My teaching style is aimed at helping you build confidence to enable you to be able to portray your ideas into

design on paper. I aim to meet you with your individual interests and help you achieve confidence in a personal style.​​

WEEK 1:

Looking at inspiration sources based on themes (one can be provided but we recommend that you bring some images on theme that you're excited by

Looking at templates of the figure, proportion and different styles

Starting with fine liner and cartridge paper

Recognising the less is more technique and learnign where to leave negative space

 

WEEK 2:​

Using weekly inspiration from leading Fashion Designers

Deepening the "less is more" technique to capture movement and gesture

Exploring fine liner combined with soft ink washes and water-soluble pens

Learning to let water bleed and flow to create dynamic, fluid silhouettes

 

WEEK 3:​

Using weekly inspiration from leading Fashion Designers

Embracing the "accidental" in mark-making t

Working with ink, dip pens, and teat-pipettes 

Combining expressive work with controlled line details for contrast

WEEK 4:​

Using weekly inspiration from leading fashion designers

Combining collage materials with expressive mark-making

Layering with ink, pen, brush work and crayons for shapes

Using shapes to define garments quickly 

WEEK 5:

Using weekly inspiration from leading fashion designers

Using line to suggest drape,and movement

Fusing your favourite media from previous weeks 

Working at a larger scale to encourage looser arm movements and expressive strokes

WEEK 6: 

Developing a collection

Selecting a personal theme or designer mood to guide a collection

Applying mixed-media techniques to create a visually connections

Refining final details, 

Presenting your pieces and key favourite moments of the course
